Southern California Gas Co. today announced a $500,000 charitable giving campaign to nonprofit organizations that address clean air, clean energy or water conservation.
SoCalGas will award one-year grants up to $25,000 to nonprofit organizations with environmental projects in the Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Ventura, Tulare, Santa Barbara, Fresno and San Luis Obispo counties.
Preference will be given to nonprofit organizations with environmental programs or projects that:
— support low-income communities of color with limited resources;
— cross county lines;
— involve promotion and marketing with other partners or have significant outreach opportunities;
— impact multiple communities or the region as a whole; and
— have existing partial funding that can be leveraged by a new grant.
The deadline to submit applications in Sept. 30. Selected organizations will be awarded grants by Nov. 14.
