A power outage caused by Mylar balloons affected more than 2,275 utility customers in the Hollywood area this morning, authorities said.
The problem was reported about 12:25 a.m. in locations that included Melrose and Fairfax Avenues, said Gale Harris of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
DWP crews were working to repair the equipment and restore power, Harris said. There was no estimate on what time power would be turned on.
The 2,275 figure represents residential customers as well as industrial customers, Harris said.
