THE TASTE has become a tradition for many Los Angeles foodies who swarm to the annual Labor Day weekend event on Paramount Pictures Studios back lot to sample some of the city’s best offerings in food and drink.
The three-day food festival is organized in five events highlighting distinct aspects of local food culture. Each event features unlimited food tastings, specialty cocktails, wine seminars, live demos and topical conversations.
The event closes with a family friendly block party, with a special Kid Zone play space featuring airbrush tattoos, a bubble play area and arts and crafts. There were also plenty of kid friendly foods, including ice cream, ice fluff, mini cupcakes, and other sweets. There was no bounce house at this year’s event, which is just as well since last year the enclosed space got pretty heated in the blazing afternoon August sun.
On the culinary side, the block party featured Noelle Carter, Los Angeles Times Test Kitchen Director, hosting a celebration of the dishes that exemplify an end-of-summer bash with family and friends.
THE TASTE is hosted by Los Angeles Times and produced in association with Best Events. Sponsors include Cadillac, which generously provided guests with stylish souvenir black tote bags with matching roll-up travel blankets, and Stella Artois and Svedka, which kept adults happily imbibing in refreshing spirits at the festival and gave away handsome Stella Artois embossed goblets, a great addition to any discriminating beer drinker’s collection.
