The incredible story of Julius Rosenwald, who never finished high school, but rose to become Sears president in the early 20th century, and gave away what today would be almost a billion dollars to build, with African-American communities, 5300 schools whose famous alumni include Maya Angelou, John Lewis, and Pulitzer Prize winner Eugene Robinson. He also awarded fellowships to a who’s who of African-American intellectuals and artist including Marian Anderson, James Baldwin, Ralph Bunche, Gordon Parks, and many others.
