Beverly Hills will host the amateur cycling event, Gran Fondo Italia this Sunday, September 28th, with a two-day expo open to the public at Beverly Canon Gardens.
The Gran Fondo Italia Beverly Hills ride will feature 48 and 90 mile courses, with an official Italian style start celebration from Rodeo Drive, one of the most famous streets in the world.
Cyclists will experience a police escort through Los Angeles, the Pacific Coast Highway, tour the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains, take on the Piuma Road hill-climb with the Gran Premio Della Montagna challenge (King/Queen of the Mountain) and roll into an exciting finish at Beverly Hills City Hall.
Cyclists of all abilities can experience the best of Italian-style cycling by choosing one of two routes provided by the Gran Fondo organization. The post-ride celebration will take place at the famed Beverly Canon Gardens.
The spirit and passion of Italy, iconic Italian brands, and incredible destinations are all part of the unforgettable experience of Gran Fondo Italia events.
“We are thrilled to host the Gran Fondo Italia and it is a great way to help promote our Centennial year internationally,” said Beverly Hills Mayor, Lili Bosse. “It’s a great opportunity to showcase the bike friendly activities in our city and build on our Healthy City Initiative, both for our community and for cyclists visiting from around the world”.
“With the success of the rides in 2011 and 2013, we’re honored to bring the ride back to Rodeo Drive for the third edition,” said Matteo Gerevini, founder. “We are confident the unique atmosphere of Beverly Hills will provide an exciting weekend of fabulous Italian culture for cyclists and the entire Los Angeles community”.
