When Brook Harvey Taylor picked up a copy of Tom Robbins’ novel, “Jitterbug Perfume†, she heeded its invitation to follow her nose to the wonders that her sense of smell would reveal. Thus began a love affair with scents that, after a series of twists and turns lead her to create Pacifica, a maker of sweet smelling salves for those of us with parched pelts
When I read Jitterbug Perfume and several other works by the eccentric and brilliant Robbins, it lead me to sinus surgery – which is a good thing in general and specifically so that I can enjoy the scents available at Pacifica as they’re sublime and divine.
My mother first introduced me to this line by giving me a tube of their Tibetan Mountain Temple body butter. Turns out, mother is always right. This incense-like scent uses Vetiver and Indonesian Patchouli as its base adding ginger and orange to create a great fragrance good for any season that compliments all earthy fragrances. I often pair this body butter, which actually softens and hydrates my dry skin, with the Tuscan Blood Orange spray perfume or vise versa to create a unique, soft and yummy smelling me. The French Lilac is a great fragrance and can be paired beautifully with any number of floral scents as can Brazilian Mango Grapefruit if you don’t want to layer the scent.
Pacifica’s products are paraban and petroleum free, they’re also 100% vegan and gluten-free for those who are more careful with their diet and products than I.
