The Jazz Reggae Festival at UCLA is a two-day annual music festival held every Memorial Day Weekend that celebrates music, art, culture and diversity, while hosting some of the world’s most prominent musicians in Jazz, Hip Hop, Soul, and Reggae.
With unprecedented attendance averaging over 30,000 people for the past six years, the Jazz Reggae Festival has secured its place as the largest student-run event in the nation. Behind the scenes, a staff of about 20 students has been working to make this event possible over the past year. While publicly, the event has been highly acclaimed by the press, artists, and the community as one of California’s most distinguished outdoor festivals.
For this monumental 2009 year, we are welcoming a new theme: “A Culture of Change.” With this in mind, the festival will be implementing more initiatives to make our show zero-waste as well as environmentally and socially sustainable. Come out this Memorial Day Weekend and celebrate the culture of change to the sounds of Erykah Badu, De La Soul, and Mavado!!
