“Timothy’s Room†tells the story of a widower named Greg, who wants a new start for himself and his adolescent daughter, Molly, after his wife’s death. At first, they both seem to love their new home, but Molly has a hard time adjusting. She starts acting out, and blaming her bad behavior on a boy named Timothy. Trouble is, Timothy doesn’t exist. Greg tries to be sympathetic, but Molly’s behavior grows increasingly worse. Tensions between the two mount — until events take an unexpected turn.
The cast features Mariah Fallon, Michael J. Uhlman, Mary Beth Pape and Mac Hegyes. It was written, directed and produced by Martinez, a long-time Hollywood professional in her first directorial effort.
Martinez has been interested in directing for some time now, but nothing intrigued her quite like the idea of “Timothy’s Room,†‘I couldn’t get the story out of my head.†The film is based on the actual experience of a former co-worker. “A girl I used to work with moved into an old farmhouse in Connecticut. Her little boy kept talking about someone she assumed was an imaginary friend. But so many strange things started happening, and well…they moved.â€
The Festival runs from April 14-17 at the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa. “Timothy’s Room” will be shown at 2:00 p.m. on the 14th.
