Nadel Architects Redesigns Itself

Current Nadel executives Joan Frei, Patrick Winters and Greg Palaski have been selected to comprise a new Nadel ownership group to guide the firm in its next phase, which officially begins this month.

“We are very excited to have Joan Frei, Patrick Winters and Greg Palaski help usher Nadel, Inc., into a new era,†said Herb Nadel, who will remain the company’s president while adding his trio of executives to his new ownership team. “They are each senior members of our firm and represent a different set of skills that will help usher our company into its next phase.â€

Frei joins Nadel’s new ownership team straight from her role as the company’s senior vice president of business development. She joined Nadel in 1999 as the director of business development for the company’s retail division. In addition to being on the forefront of Nadel’s marketing efforts, Frei has stamped her mark at the firm by increasing the company’s visibility in the industry while being actively involved in the management of all five Nadel offices.

Winters steps up to the new Nadel team from his position as the Director of Special Projects, where he focused on large-scale international projects, especially mixed-use development and urban planning. He joined Nadel in 2007 and brings 30 years of architectural experience to the table with a specialty in the design and construction of high-profile projects.

Palaski moves up from his current position at Nadel as a vice president and managing director. His focus has been on retail work, as well as the production of many high-end retail centers and large-scale conversions and redevelopment projects. He brings with him a well-known reputation in his profession for his leadership skills and hands-on approach to management.

Nadel is one of Southern California’s most prolific architectural firms, responsible for more than 2,000 buildings over the past 37 years. Since founding his company in 1973, Herb Nadel’s firm has branched out of the U.S. and into markets including Southeast Asia, Saudi Arabia, Europe and South America, creating more than 600 shopping centers, 400 office buildings, thousands of apartment units and high- and- low- rise buildings and more than 10 million square feet of retail space.

Herb Nadel has been practicing architecture since 1960. After serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, Nadel worked full time while studying engineering at L.A. Trade-Technical College and later architecture at the University of Southern California. After working for three different architectural firms he opened his own firm in 1973 and has grown it into an international practice with five offices.

Nadel is a member of the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects and his work has been lauded nationally and internationally by numerous professional forums worldwide. He has also served on a number of prestigious civic and academic boards including Los Angeles Mayor Bradley’s Cultural Advisory Committee and the Dean’s Council of the UCLA School of Architecture and Planning.
