INSIGHTS INTO CANCER
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death affecting more than 10 million people in the United States alone. By understanding this complex disease, we can better prevent and treat it, and seek out cures in hopes of eradicating it altogether. For one Tuesday out of each month the Ted Mann Family Resource Center at UCLA is offering the free and public lecture series, ‘Insights into Cancer.’ The next lecture will focus on the recent scientific and technological advances made in human genome sequencing and the latest findings about the development of cancer, variations in genetic patterns, and understanding hereditary risks and testing. The lecture is entitled ‘Update on the Genetics Revolution and Implications for Personalized Medicine in Cancer.’  It will be led by medical oncologist and UCLA professor Patricia Ganz, and Joyce L. Seldon, a genetic counselor and Deputy Director for the UCLA Familial Cancer Registry and Genetic Evaluation Program. It will take place on June 10th from 7-9 pm in the RPB Auditorium in Stein Plaza, UCLA. For further information, visit simmsmanncenter.ucla.edu.
