From ancient times until today, the healing art of Qi-Gong has been used as an integral part of the Traditional Chinese medicine. It has been shown that the subtle, soft and slow movements create balance in the body’s “Qi†(Chi) or internal energy force, and encourages better conditions for self healing. What is less well known, however, is the relevance of Qi-Gong to the Buddhist practice of mindfulness and concentration.
The same movements that create well being and calmness, are also an amazing opportunity for us to train our ever jumpy minds to relax and quiet down a bit. When we are quiet, we can start noticing life as it passes us by. In this half day retreat we will practice several movements from different Qi-Gong forms, to give some sort of an appetizer for those new to Qi-Gong practice. Our emphasis though, will not necessarily be on the movements themselves, but on training our mind’s ability to concentrate and be mindful to what is going on.
