On October 5, comedian Mel Brooks will host a live introduction to “Young Frankenstein” on the 20th Century Fox lot in Century City.
On that night only, the 1974 film starring the late Gene Wilder, will be screened in 500 theaters across the country, courtesy of Fathom Events.
Brooks is expected to reminisce about his friend Wilder in his introduction to the movie.
Brooks (who co-wrote “Young Frankenstein” with Wilder), said in an interview with Good, “The idea for the screening had actually been in the works for about six months. After Gene died, they didn’t want it to seem like they were taking advantage. But it’s still going to be wonderful to see him in his most beautiful and magnificent performance. He was never better.”
Wilder passed away on Aug 28 at the age of 83, following complications from Alzheimer’s disease.
