California Rehabilitation Institute, a physical medicine and rehabilitation hospital, opened its doors to patients on July 21.
A joint venture with UCLA Health, Cedars-Sinai and Select Medical, the institute is the largest hospital of its kind on the West Coast, providing comprehensive rehabilitation services to patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, and orthopedic conditions.
The patient care teams include rehabilitation physicians, specialty nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, case managers and social workers.
Prior to the Institute’s opening, both Cedars-Sinai and UCLA Health operated inpatient rehabilitation units, but their facilities were usually at full capacity. The new hospital, located at the intersection of West Olympic Blvd. and Century Park East offers 138 private beds.
“We are so pleased that this day has finally arrived and we can deliver the highest levels of rehabilitation care in this beautiful new hospital,” said Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and CEO of California Rehabilitation Institute John Behzad in an official statement. “It’s exciting to see a project of this magnitude come to fruition. We are grateful for the support we received from UCLA Health, Cedars-Sinai and Select Medical, as well as the Century City community, as we prepared to open the hospital.”
