“500 Questions,” described by host Richard Quest as “the toughest game ever devised,” will premiere at 8 p.m. tonight on ABC.
“500 Questions,” some of the smartest people in the nation will try to answer 500 of the most difficult general knowledge questions ever devised, according to ABC, which describes the show as “the ultimate test, where intellect, strategy and stamina are all equally essential in order to win.”
A contestant missing three questions in a row will be eliminated. There are no saves, help or multiple-choice questions.
“500 Questions” will air for nine hours over nine nights. The first contestant is Dan McCarthy, an attorney from Toledo, Ohio, who had a perfect SAT score and graduated magna cum laude from Columbia.
The show’s producers include Mark Burnett, a producer of “Survivor,” “The Voice” and “Shark Tank,” and Mike Darnell, who as Fox Broadcasting’s president of alternate entertainment, oversaw such series as “American Idol”; “So You Think You Can Dance”; “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” “Hell’s Kitchen”; and “MasterChef.”
