The new category of staycation travel has encouraged many Angelenos to discover hotel gems in their own backyard, like the Hilton Garden Inn Los Angeles Marina Del Rey, operated by the Pacifica Hotel Company.

The hotel has many unique spaces, including a spacious two-storey hideaway with a loft, known as the Sheik Room, named for the former owner who made the hotel his palace away from home, utilizing what is now the guest parking structure to keep his collection of rare cars.

In all, the hotel boasts 134 guestrooms housed in individual bungalows and small buildings. Each room is charmingly furnished in modern style and designed to allow plenty of natural light. Each room’s décor, layout and size varies, giving the property a truly independent vibe.

Suited to its mix of guests, the hotel equally serves business and leisure travelers. Daily happy hour from 4 pm to 7 pm includes appetizers such as Pan Fried Vegetable Potstickers, Wild Mushroom and Smoked Gouda Quesadilla and Grilled Fish Tacos.

Dinner entrees include a little bit of everything, from Fiesta Chicken Cobb salad, Steak and “Shrooms” sandwich, and Fish & Chips, to Tuscan Bucatini Bolognaise.

Guests who venture out will find easy access to local attractions like Venice Beach, Fisherman’s Village, Ballona Wetlands, Santa Monica Pier, and Third Street Promenade. For the adventurous, kayaking, paddle boarding, surfing and sailing, biking and other activities and excursions can be arranged through the hotel reception.
