The meet is the largest synchronized swimming meet in the world, and features competition in four age groups: 11-12, 13-15, 16-17 and 18-19.
Qaisera Alexis, Dylan Kaitlyn Baker, Mayra De Leon,
Audrey Ann Loewen, Florence Loewen, Leticia Macias
Jordyn Rand and Joela Rodriguez will compete in the 16-17 age group in Team. They qualified for the national championships by placing among the top three finishers at the regional championships in Riverside last month, which featured top athletes from all of Southern California.
Synchronized swimming requires a unique combination of strength, agility, endurance, flexibility and speed. The Los Angeles Aquanymphs practice 3-5 hours per day, 4 days per week at the John C. Argue Swim Stadium/Expo Center, which was the site for the first Los Angeles Olympics, and the most recent Olympics in 1984. Elite-level synchronized swimmers typically practice eight hours per day, six days per week.
The Los Angeles Aqua Nymphs have a history of success, having qualified for Nationals in their 2nd year as a USA Synchro team. Led by head coach Patrice Dodd, the club is the fastest growing synchronized swim team in all of Los Angeles County.
On July 27th 2013, the team will host a post-nationals exhibition fundraising watershow during which all of the teams, from Novice to Age-Group, will be showcasing their competition routines, as well as doing special routines together . The community is welcome to attend, and the cost is $10 per adult and $5 per child.
