The biggest Sri Lankan event held in the United States is hosted by Sri Lanka Foundation and includes the Sri Lankan Curry Festival featuring exotic delicacies such as “Hoppers,†“Kottu Roti,†“Rice and Curry,†“String Hoppers,†“Pol Roti,†“Short Eats†and Sweets.
A large stage near Wilshire Boulevard will feature non-stop entertainment including traditional Sri Lankan dancers, drummers and performers in full costume, as well as young Sri Lankan American musicians playing pop music. At 4:00pm the Sri Lanka Day Parade, with more than two hundred performers in colorful costumes will stroll down the Promenade with a theatre elephant paying homage to the annual “Esala Perahera†held in the city of Kandy in Sri Lanka, which honors a sacred tooth relic belonging to Buddha.
