Greg Lyon, design principal for Nadel Architects’ retail division, has been named president of Retail Design Institute’s California/Southwest chapter. An architect who specializes in retail design, Lyon begins a two-year term at the Retail Design Institute (RDI), an international organization for the global retail and brand community. Throughout his tenure, Lyon will bring his knowledge and experience of the development/brokerage side of retail design to RDI.
“I look forward to the opportunity to bring the high-end retail/branding and development-oriented retail worlds together,†Lyon said. “And while RDI is evolving nationally and internationally, I also am eager to help give the organization more of a regional presence.â€
In overseeing the California/Southwest chapter, Lyon will work with a board of directors located in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah. He replaces past president Brian Dyches, who is moving on to become RDI’s international president.
Lyon plans on utilizing his extensive background working with retail developers to bring a focus on development and brokerage to RDI, which traditionally has had its sights set on branding and high-end retail. Additionally, he will look to support both national and regional RDI events such as panel meetings and various networking opportunities.
“Over the years, Greg has become an indispensible resource in the retail development arena,†said Herb Nadel, founder/president of Nadel Architects. “With his knowledge and experience in the retail development sector, his appointment as a chapter president will be a major plus for RDI.â€
A global consumer environment network association, RDI was founded in 1961 and has members based in five continents including retailers, architects, graphic artists, interior designers and others. RDI links its global chapters with its North American regional centers for ongoing events, networking and education.
