Premier scholar, literary and political figure Carlos Fuentes whose novels include the bestselling “The Old Gringo†as well as “Terra Nostra†and “The Death of Artemio Cruz,†will delve into Mexico’s tumultuous history and its relationship with its superpower neighbor when he speaks at UCLA on December 12th.
Both his fiction and non-fiction work has garnered praise including the Miguel de Cervantes Prize, the highest honor for a Spanish-language writer.
Fuentes will make his first appearance at Royce Hall when he shares excerpts from his latest works and offers a seasoned perspective on Mexican-American relations including the hot-button topics of immigration, race and multiculturalism.
