Do you remember what you were thinking of and what you were spending your time on at age 16? Certainly not producing a feature film with a cast of 25 actors under your belt!
Anne-Sophie Dutoit is not your regular teenager. A teen wunderkind, she is at ease in all aspects of filmmaking: writing, directing, acting and producing her own projects. While most 16-18 year-olds go through the regular challenges of teenage hood, Anne-Sophies main focus is to keep challenging herself to achieve the impossible and making movies that matter.
Anne-Sophie wrote the first draft of Faded Memories when she was 14. After struggling to raise financing and trying to convince people that she could pull it off at her age, Faded Memories finally got into production. Anne-Sophie was 16. She made Faded Memories with a professional crew of 60, most of them twice her age, and a cast of 25 speaking roles. This self-assured, attractive and charming young woman was unfazed by her responsibilities. The entire crew treated her all with respect, and it became quickly obvious that this was one exceptional teenager. Her co-star Brock Kelly, in the role of Lucas, admits that he was intimidated when he first met her, but soon overcame that. He says, “Anne-Sophie is the favorite director I’ve worked with. I’ve been contained in the past and she lets me free. I’ve made a 180-degree turn on this movie from where I was before… I’ve never felt so confident and at ease on a set before…”
Faded Memories, which had limited theatrical release in 2008, is the story of Cassandra, a girl tormented with a rare phobia until love sets her free. Faded Memories is a project that comes from the bottom of my heart The main character, Cassandra, is a free spirit who is trying to fit in a world where we are told to conform and consume to make us look and feel better. Not only is Cassandra different from others around her because of the way she looks at the world, but she also suffers from a phobia of being touched. This phobia is not a far fetched idea, its real. I did a lot of research on the Internet and talked to several medical doctors about it. I found out that some people suffer from this condition, at one level or another, even if its cause isnt easily understood.
From the comments seen on most of her social network sites, Anne-Sophie seems to quickly have become a role model for other teens worldwide. Her movie trailer alone has over 160,000 views from 55 countries on YouTube. She loves to encourage young people her age to pursue their dreams and have a positive impact on the world. I am in this industry to help others go after what they want and to fight for their ideas to be heard. After all, life is what you make of it and the most exciting thing is to do something everyone tells you is impossible.
Always striving to please her fans, Anne-Sophie wanted to provide them with a unique package: the Faded Memories 2 DVD set not only includes the movie in both English and French, but some 15 additional bonuses such as her first two short-films, the Faded Memories music video, interviews, a photo gallery and much more basically everything she has done as a filmmaker up to this point.
What is next for this young motivating woman? Another movie is on its way and she is presently finishing a novel. More than anything, she wants to inspire people, especially other teens, to pursue their dreams and have a positive impact on the world. to fight for their ideas to be heard.
