Sempra Energy Foundation will once again partner with the Santa Monica Pier to provide more opportunities for our children. This time, their generous grant will launch a new curriculum for students in grades K-8 which will incorporate the historic pier into a variety of lesson plans including preschool, career development history and the social sciences.
In celebration of this new init9ative – and of the Pier’s upcoming Centennial – 100 local students will decorate a carousel horse with their thumbprints. The horse,just like those in the Pier’s historic carousel will be
installed into a fixture and moved to schools that adopt the curriculum.
Festivities will include the the band Venice plus other community members including 9:Fish Surfboards who will donate a specially designed surf board in support of the Pier’s conservation efforts.
