Tis the season to renew our faith, be thankful for all that we have and all that we shall receive. But every year, there’s the unnerving prospect of receiving the dreaded “Christmas Sweater†– that one fashion nightmare we’re all embarrassed (yet forced) to wear. Just pop in “Bridget Jones’ Diary†to experience the discomfort a Christmas sweater can wreak.
All that humiliation is about to change…
Brentwood’s Jennifer Knits has taken a modern twist on the age-old craft and its sometimes-tacky holiday manifestation.
For 8 years, Jennifer Knits has offered clients stylish, high couture at affordable prices. “This year†proprietor Jennifer Turchen says, “Everybody loves Loro Piana cashmere sweaters, but they’re $4,000 … you can knit one for $500.†If that’s still too steep, Turchen also has blends that run about $150 per sweater.
Unlike other knitting stores, Jennifer’s doesn’t hold scheduled classes. “Come in when you want, when it’s convenient for you,†invites Turchen. Three onsite instructors are available on a first come, first served basis. Her relaxed atmosphere encourages a “knitting community.â€
