Beverly Hills’ Theatre 40 is inaugurating a playwriting contest for students in grades 5-8. Students create a short play on the theme of “responsibility,†which is the Beverly Hills Unified School District’s character education theme for the year. The contest is open to students in both Beverly Hills and Los Angeles Unified School Districts. One winner will be selected from each district. The contest deadline is December 31, 2008.
The winning playwright will have his play produced by Theatre 40 for the 2009 season as part of their KIDS ACTING OUT! program and the first place winner will receive the Monty Hall and Marilyn Hall Playwriting Award and a cash prize of $100.
