A luncheon in Beverly Hills today hosted by the comedian Jerry Seinfeld raised nearly $250,000 for the fatherhood initiative of the nonprofit organization founded by his wife Jessica to support fathers in need, organizers said.
In Los Angeles, the Baby Buggy Fatherhood Initiative works with fathers through The Children’s Institute, Inc., a nonprofit organization serving at- risk children and families affected by child abuse, neglect, domestic violence, and gang and community violence.
CII’s Project Fatherhood includes 13 programs offered at various locations in the Los Angeles area, offering such services as individual and family counseling, job training, financial literacy, healthy marriage workshops, anger management training, parent-child enrichment activities, legal workshops and employment assistance.
Former “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno, “Seinfeld” cast members Jason Alexander and Michael Richards, filmmaker Judd Apatow and actor Jason Bateman were among those joining the Seinfelds at Baby Buggy’s inaugural Los Angeles Fatherhood Initiative Lunch at the Palm Restaurant.
