Palm Sunday, which commemorates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, is tomorrow.
Archbishop Jose H. Gomez will celebrate Palm Sunday Mass at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. The Mass will begin outdoors on the Cathedral Plaza for the blessing of palm branches, which will then be carried by the faithful as they process into the cathedral, following Christian tradition begun in the fourth century.
The branches represent the branches the crowd brought when Jesus rode into Jerusalem.
Additional Palm Sunday Masses will be celebrated at the cathedral at 8 a.m. in English and 12:30 p.m. in Spanish.
Parking is free at the cathedral through 3 p.m. In order to handle increased parking needs, all cars will enter the structure via the Hill Street entrance only.
There is no left turn into the parking structure unless directed by traffic control officers, so cars should approach from the north.
Additional parking is available, for a fee, at the Music Center.
