The Los Angeles Police Protective League’s Eagle & Badge Foundation recognized the 2014 honorees at its 13th Annual Eagle & Badge Gala on Nov. 19 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Century City.
The “In The Line Of Duty” awards honorees included Chief Jim McDonnell (Long Beach Police Dept.), Robert and Linell Shapiro (The Brent Shapiro Foundation), Austin M. Beutner (Publisher & Chief Executive, Los Angeles Times), and Alan Skobin (Vice President/General Counsel, Galpin Motors).
The event benefited the Eagle & Badge Foundation, which raises funds to provide much needed financial support for LAPD officers and their families in time of critical need as well as charitable organizations in the communities served by LAPD.
The Foundation is often the last line of defense for the officers’ families and children in the community.
Mario Lopez, host of TV’s “Extra” and nationally syndicated radio show “On With Mario Lopez” served as the gala’s emcee.
Wilson Phillips, Grammy nominated and multi-platinum recording artists, provided the special musical performance at the event. Known for their three consecutive number one hit songs “Hold On,” “Release Me,” and “You’re In Love,” Phillips is one of America’s most beloved female trio groups.
This summer, the Eagle & Badge Foundation was also honored to unveil the End of Watch Memorial Wall standing as an everlasting tribute to those who gave their lives for the Citizens of Los Angeles.”
“Our department has lost 207 officers ‘In the Line of Duty’ and if you have not had the opportunity to see the End of Watch Memorial Wall in tribute to those who gave their lives, the wall was dedicated at our Eagle & Badge Gala on November 19, and was incredibly moving,” said Peter Repovich, President, Eagle & Badge Foundation. “The officers’ names and End of Watch dates are reverently featured on this 58 foot long, 15,000 pound traveling wall of stainless steel and glass. Everyone attending the gala was touched by this special tribute.”
