The Critics Choice Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton today.
The Critics Choice Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton today.

With five nods each, “The Big Bang Theory,” “Fargo,” “The Good Wife,” “Masters of Sex” and “The Normal Heart” lead the nominees heading into today’s presentation of the fourth annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards.

CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” will look to repeat last year’s win as best comedy series, while AMC’s now-defunct “Breaking Bad” and HBO’s “Game of Thrones” — which tied for best drama last year — are both nominated in the category again this year.

“The Big Bang Theory” is being challenged for best comedy by Comedy Central’s “Broad City,” FX’s “Louie,” Netflix’s cult hit “Orange is the New Black” and HBO’s “Silicon Valley” and “Veep.”

For best drama, “Breaking Bad” and “Game of Thrones” will compete with FX’s “The Americans,” CBS’ “The Good Wife,” Showtime’s “Masters of Sex” and HBO’s “True Detective.”

Louis C.K. will try to repeat as best actor in comedy for “Louie.” He is being challenged by Emmy winner Jim Parsons of “The Big Bang Theory,”

Chris Messina of Fox’s “The Mindy Project,” Thomas Middleditch of HBO’s “Silicon Valley,” Adam Scott of NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” and Robin Williams of CBS’ “The Crazy Ones.”

Competing for best comedy actress are Ilana Glazer of “Broad City,” Julia Louis-Dreyfus of “Veep,” Wendi McLendon-Covey of ABC’s “The Goldbergs,” Amy Schumer of Comedy Central’s “Inside Amy Schumer,” Amy Poehler of NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” and Emmy Rossum for Showtime’s “Shameless.” Louis-Dreyfus won the prize last year.

Last year’s winner Bryan Cranston is nominated again for best actor in a drama for “Breaking Bad,” as are Hugh Dancy for NBC’s “Hannibal,” Freddie Highmore for A&E’s “Bates Motel,” Matthew McConaughey for “True Detective,” Matthew Rhys for “The Americans” and Michael Sheen for Showtime’s “Masters of Sex.”

Competing for best drama actress will be last year’s winner Tatiana Maslany of BBC America’s “Orphan Black,” Lizzy Caplan of “Masters of Sex,” Vera Farmiga of “Bates Motel,” Julianna Margulies of “The Good Wife,” Keri Russell of “The Americans” and Robin Wright of Netflix’s “House of Cards.”

Cedric the Entertainer will host the awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton. Producer/writer/director Ryan Murphy, whose credits include “Glee,” “Nip/Tuck” and “American Horror Story,” will be presented with the Critics’ Choice Louis XIII Genius Award, which recognizes an “icon” in the television industry.

The awards are presented by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association.
