In addition to their normal duties, the Santa Monica Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit will target pedestrian related violations. Pedestrian related incidents still occur throughout the City of Santa Monica and since January 2012, there have been 85 collisions involving pedestrians.
Pedestrian violations that have resulted collisions this year include:
· Jaywalking
· Walking against a red light or “Don’t Walk†symbol
· Failure to yield right-of-way to on-coming traffic
· Pedestrian in the roadway
Walk with the law … and possibly prevent an accident.
