In what has become an annual tradition, patients at Mattel Children’s Hospital were greeted on September 14 by their favorite superheroes washing their hospital windows before stopping by to greet the kids.
The regular window washers once again donned their Batman, Captain America, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman and Hulk costumes, much to the delight of the children.
The Grimefighters day marked the fourth annual Superhero Day at UCLA and were a welcome respite for the kids, many of whom are fighting serious illnesses and can spend months at a time in the hospital.
“They were coming around and giving high-fives, and we took pictures,” Aidan Troung, 6, said.
“Events like this give the children a chance to forget they’re in a hospital and just feel like a kid again,” said Kellye Carroll, director of the hospital’s Chase Child Life Program.
