Hollywood Boulevard To Host A Big Week In Movie Premieres

The incredible story of Julius Rosenwald, who never finished high school, but rose to become Sears president in the early 20th century, and gave away what today would be almost a billion dollars to build, with African-American communities, 5300 schools whose famous alumni include Maya Angelou, John Lewis, and Pulitzer Prize winner Eugene Robinson.

It isn’t a galaxy far, far away, but Hollywood Boulevard will be the center of the “Star Wars” universe tonight when stars of the much-anticipated “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” walk the red carpet for the film’s premiere.

The film is scheduled to open to the public Thursday, and die-hard fans have already been camping out for about a week in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre in hopes of being among the first to view the movie. On Thursday afternoon, two truly dedicated fans will exchange wedding vows in front of a Stormtrooper brigade in the Chinese Theatre forecourt.

It’s a big week of movie premieres on Hollywood Boulevard. The Chinese Theatre will host the premiere of “Point Break” on Tuesday night and “The Revenant” on Wednesday night.

Hollywood Boulevard is closed between Highland and La Brea avenues to accommodate the “Star Wars” premiere. A portion of that stretch will reopen at 10 a.m. Tuesday, but the road will remain closed between Highland and Orange Drive until midnight for the “Point Break” event.

That stretch will reopen at midnight, but will close again at 10 a.m. Wednesday to accommodate “The Revenant” premiere. It will reopen again at midnight Wednesday night.
