Rapper Immortal Technique and his tour manager were charged with robbery stemming from a Santa Ana confrontation with two men selling T-shirts with the singer’s logo on them, and they are scheduled to be arraigned in June.

Immortal Technique — whose actual name is Felipe Andres Coronel — and his tour manager, Steven Alexander McDaniel, were charged with two counts each of second-degree robbery on April 8. Their Friday arraignment was rescheduled for June 5.

Attorneys for both men declined comment.

McDaniel’s attorney, Marion H. Wheeler Jr., said Friday marked the first time his client received police reports about the incident.

“We are in the process of reading and reviewing those reports at this time,” Wheeler said. “So at this point it’s too early in the game to make any commentary.”

The 37-year-old rapper, from New York City, was arrested March 26 along with McDaniel, 40, of Mission Viejo, according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

Both men posted $50,000 bail and were released following their transfer from Santa Ana’s jail to the Orange County Jail, according to jail records.

The victims told police they were selling T-shirts with the rapper’s logo outside the Observatory at 3503 S. Harbor Blvd. when the performer’s “entourage” — numbering 10 to 12 people — confronted them, Bertagna said.

“The group confronted them about not receiving money from the sale of the T-shirts,” Bertagna said.

The victims, ages 38 and 30, said they were beaten and their attackers took their T-shirts, cash and cell phones, Bertagna said.

Police have not recovered the items reported stolen, Bertagna said.

After the beating, the rapper took the stage in the Observatory’s Constellation Room, Bertagna said.

Coronel, who was born in Peru, emigrated to Harlem with his family in 1980.
