PHILANTHRO PRODUCTIONS DONATES 100% of ASPIRE REVENUE TO CHRYSALIS
First local community event raises $6,700 for Chrysalis
Los Angeles, CA March 9, 2010- Philanthro Productions, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing Los Angeles’s young urbanites with unique opportunities to give back, hosted it’s first food tasting event, Aspire: A Flavor of the Community, on Friday, February 26 at Air Conditioned Supper Club in Venice, CA. Philanthro Productions partnered with Chrysalis, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping economically disadvantaged and homeless individuals to become self-sufficient through employment opportunities.
With 475 patrons in attendance, Philanthro Productions raised $6,700 for Chrysalis. This is the fifth event in a row that Philanthro Productions Los Angeles has been able to donate one hundred percent of the proceeds directly to its partner charity. Proceeds include all cover charge, a percentage of the bar tab donated by the venue, and other direct donations from patrons.
“The event was so thoughtful– from the slideshow and photography through out the venue, down to the details of the bells– you did an amazing job to both fundraise and educate your patrons about the work that we do,†said Jessica Wishan, Volunteer and Community Outreach at Chrysalis, “And on top of all of that: wow, was it fun and tasty!â€
Guests indulged in lavishly prepared dishes and sweet treats from local restaurants in the Los Angeles area. Restaurant sponsors included: Bsweet, CASA, Dagwoods Pizza, Del’s Lemonade, FOOD, Maria’s Italian Kitchen, Sauce on Hampton and Wharo. World Centric provided all the utensils, plates and napkins for the evening, which were made out of all sustainable and compostable materials. Freddy & Francine performed throughout the food tasting and after, guests were able to dance the night away to DJ KKS (of Red Filter Music-LA).
Philanthro Productions also incorporated innovative education elements into the event. Guests were greeted with visuals and statistics of homelessness in Los Angeles in a slideshow projected in both tasting rooms. They were also presented with bells attached to information cards about Chrysalis. At Chrysalis, when individuals secure a job, they ring a bell to share their success and offer one piece of motivational advice to their peers.
In the following weeks, Philanthro Productions, will announce a Philanthro/Chrysalis Volunteer Day giving enthused patrons an opportunity to help fight homelessness as well as play an integral role in fulfilling the Chrysalis’ mission.
“Philanthro Productions strives to create new and exciting opportunities for our generation to help the community while having fun.†Said Andrew Whelan, Philanthro Productions Co-President, “The mix of fresh local foods, live music and interactive education at ‘Aspire’ was a perfect example of how young professionals can engage with great charities like Chrysalis while getting the most out of their nightlife.”
Philanthro Productions is a one hundred percent volunteer based organization with chapters in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego. Philanthro partners with leading non-profits to host first rate parties to raise funds and awareness for these causes.
