Affordable Yet Meaningful Ways To Make Father’s Day Special This Year

Your dad means the world to you. From the time you were born, he has served as your provider, protector, and biggest supporter. He’s taught you invaluable life lessons, got you through the best and worst times in your life, and remained a constant source of love. Although no gift on the planet comes close to showing your appreciation for his presence, you never miss the opportunity to try.

With Father’s day just a few weeks away, you’re probably wondering what you’re going to do to top the years prior. You want to give him something that he’ll truly appreciate. Though you might believe that it requires a ton of money and luxurious gifts, you don’t have to go bankrupt to show dad you care. Honestly, some of the best gifts come from the heart and don’t cost much at all. If you’re stumped on ideas for Father’s Day, perhaps these affordable yet meaningful suggestions will help.

eCards

You might be too old to place macaroni noodles, glitter, and glue on construction paper, but that doesn’t mean dad doesn’t love getting cards. This year, why not send dad a digital Father’s Day card to brighten his day? Companies like JibJab have various cards for all occasions you can customize for your father, grandfather, uncle, or father figure. Whether you want to make him laugh or express something from the heart, there’s an ecard sure to fit the bill.

Arts And Crafts

Do you have artistic talents? Maybe you’re great with painting, pottery, or crocheting. If that’s the case, invest your skills in creating a gift for dad. You can paint something abstract to hang in his office, sculpt a vase, cup, or bowl that says “World’s Greatest Dad,” or crochet a scarf and hat set for the winter. Dad will enjoy the present because you invested your time, money, and resources into making it especially for him.

Family Showcase

Paintings and sculptures aren’t the only way to creatively express yourself and how you feel about the special men in your life. Some people use music or their words to share their innermost emotions. If you come from a family of creatives, perhaps a showcase for Father’s Day would suffice. You can sing songs, recite poetry, act out a play, or play musical instruments. Gather a few people in your family to put together a show. Then, invite your father and other close relatives to sit, eat, and be entertained.

Community Events

If dad prefers quality time to gifts, then taking him to community events in West Los Angeles, Del Ray, or Mar Vista would be an ideal experience. As everyday life tends to reduce the amount of time families spend together, time can often be the most precious gift. Whether you go to a food festival, state fair, family hike, or musical concert, it’s an opportunity for everyone to catch up, discover the west side, and enjoy all it has to offer.

Lend A Helping Hand

For dads that like to keep busy and work on projects around the house, prying them away from their to-do list could prove challenging. As such, it might be a better idea to lend a helping hand this Father’s Day. Schedule some time to help your father complete home improvement projects, restore a classic car, or finish up some yard work. Although it seems like hard work, the time you spend together is something he’ll appreciate for years to come.

As you get older and realize all that your father was and is to you, you’re encouraged to do something to show your appreciation. Though buying dad a fancy gift for Father’s Day is one way of putting a smile on his face, going bankrupt is not a practical solution. Believe it or not, there are plenty of affordable yet meaningful ways to express your gratitude to your father or male role models. What you’ll find is that they’re appreciated a lot more than anything money can buy.
