Century City Companies in Group Sale of $200 Million Arts District Complex

Century City’s McGregor Brown Co, together with Canyon Partners Real Estate of Century City, Cowley Real Estate Partners of Culver City and DTLA’s Polis Builders, sold One Santa Fe – a 438-unit, 500,000-square-foot apartment community located in the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District – to Boston real estate firm Berkshire Group earlier this month.
Designed by Los Feliz Firm Michael Maltzan Architecture, the mega-development is estimated to be worth around $200 million dollars.

One Santa Fe spans four blocks and has two buildings around a commercial plaza and will offer studio, one, and two bedroom apartments. The complex includes a zero edge saltwater pool, fitness center, sundeck, rooftop fire pits and a clubhouse, as well as an electric vehicle charging station.
City Real Estate Attorney Named Partner at Allen Matkins
Century City-based Julie K. Hoffman was one of three attorneys named partner at Allen Matkins, a California-based full service real estate and business law firm.

Hoffman, who is a real estate attorney, will take on her new role beginning July 1, along with Michelle Moore McDermott, who works as a land use attorney out of the company’s San Francisco office and Stephen N. Etheredge, another real estate attorney in the Los Angeles office.

Hoffman represents purchasers and sellers in the negotiation and documentation of commercial real estate transactions for office, residential and industrial real property, including note purchases and subsequent foreclosure or deed-in-lieu of foreclosure processes. Her practice also includes the preparation and negotiation of commercial, industrial and retail leases of projects throughout the West Coast.
She was previously named to Real Estate Forum’s 30 Under 30 list, has been named a Southern California Super Lawyer every year since 2009, and in 2015 she was named an Outstanding Young Lawyer by the Real Property Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
Managing Partner David L. Osias issued a statement staying, “Steve, Julie and Michelle add incredible expertise and strong client relationships to our partnership and will advance our ability to provide pre-eminent service and value to the real estate industry. This new partner class reflects the firm’s focus on excellence, diversity and commitment to clients. I congratulate each of them on this well-deserved achievement.”
