One person was arrested today in connection with a report of a suspicious device on the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway that temporarily shut down portions of two Southland freeways for more than two hours, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The report of the alleged suspicious device was received by the CHP at 12:42 p.m., Officer Michelle Bond said.
The report triggered a shutdown of a section of the westbound 118 and a portion of the northbound San Diego (405) freeways while the report was investigated, Bond said.
What if anything that CHP officers found on the freeway was not immediately known, Bond said. One person was taken into custody in connection with the report, but Bond did not know if it was a man or a woman or what role the person played in the suspicious device report.
The freeways were reopened at about 2:53 p.m., according to Bond.
The incident remained under investigation by the CHP.
