
“Straight Outta Compton” remained flat-out unbeatable at theaters over the weekend, again setting the pace at the North American box office, according to final figures released today.
The biopic about the rap group N.W.A. earned $26.4 million between Friday and Sunday to lead the pack, according to box-office tracker Rentrak. The film has earned nearly $111.1 million in its two weeks of release.
“Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation” fought off two new releases to cling to second place, earning $11.4 million to give it a four-week take of $157.5 million.
“Sinister 2” debuted in third place with $10.5 million, while “Hitman: Agent 47” opened in fourth position with $8.3 million.
The action film “Man from U.N.C.L.E.” earned $7.3 million over the weekend to land in fifth place.
Rounding out the top 10 films were “American Ultra” (debuting with $5.4 million); “The Gift” ($4.3 million); “Ant-Man” ($4 million); “Minions” ($3.8 million); and “Fantastic Four” ($3.7 million).
