Young professionals headed to the a swanky rooftop deck at golden hour July 30 to enjoy a luxe evening of networking and de-stressing as part of the Century City Chamber of Commerce’s Growing Professionals and Entrepreneurs Council (GPEC).

The 8th annual Summer in the City event got Century City outside of its bubble and into London Hotel in West Hollywood for a night of schmoozing among like-minded professional players, complete with a wide sweep view of Century City.

“All we want to do is bring people together from different industries, from Century City and outside Century City, just to get together and talk and make connections and get business going,” said Lawrence Zlot, a senior accountant in the real estate group at NSBN LLP and member of GPEC. “We knew right away this was a slam dunk for having the event.”

Tables were lined with business cards by the end of the night, replete with appetizers circulating the venue, a live DJ, raffle prizes, and a stocked bar. Dozens of contacts were exchanged at Summer in the City, a packed, modern mixer. Drinks at the bar included a spicy watermelon Avion margarita and a blueberry Absolut Elyx vodka mojito, and Don Julio sponsored a tequila taste tasting of five different kinds.

“In terms of just the meetings with the council, it has jus been a great experience for me. A lot really young, motivated professionals get together and plan these events, but then after the events we hang out a little bit and get to know each other and now we’re helping each other as well – it’s very beneficial for me and I’m sure for everyone else, as well,” Zlot said.

Young Nelson, from 1st Century Bank, and Jaime Arroyo, from Comerica Ban, both co-chair GPEC. The Century City Chamber is a non-profit business organization comprised of various member organizations, representing diverse industries, regions, interests and size. It provides its members the support they need by providing them with invaluable business benefits.
