A Studio City man is facing up to seven years in federal prison for hacking into email accounts to steal nude photos that were later posted on a “revenge porn” site, federal officials said today.
Charles Evens, 26, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count each of unauthorized access to a protected computer and aggravated identity theft, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors said Evens admitted that he obtained nude photos that were posted on the website isanyoneup.com. The operator of the site, 29-year-old Hunter Moore of Woodland, pleaded guilty in February to the same charges as Evens.
The website included nude and sexually explicit photos that had been submitted without permission of the people depicted in the images, prosecutors said. Evens hacked into Google email accounts to obtain photos, for which Moore paid him, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors said Evens admitted that he hacked into email accounts of hundreds of victims.
Evens is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 16. Moore is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 12. He also faces up to seven years in prison.
