Casino tycoon Kirk Kerkorian, who died two weeks ago in Beverly Hills at the age of 98, left an estate worth more than $2 billion, court papers show.
Documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court also include a copy of Kerkorian’s will. Written in July 2013, Kerkorian designated several beneficiaries to receive millions of dollars, including $7 million gifts each for daughter Kira Kerkorian, born during his marriage to former tennis player Lisa Bonder Kerkorian, and to Anthony Mandekic, secretary and treasurer of the billionaire’s Tracinda Corp.
He left additional gifts of $6 million to attorney Patricia Glaser and $5 million to his longtime assistant, Jaclyn Thode.
The will leaves no money for Kerkorian’s other daughters, Tracy Kerkorian and Linda Kemper, but the document states that he “made provisions” for them during his lifetime.
The court papers filed last Wednesday also include a petition for Mandekic to be named the executor of Kerkorian’s estate. A hearing is scheduled July 28.
Mandekic previously said his former boss’ death was due to age-related causes.
Kerkorian was the son of poor Armenian immigrants. He developed key properties on the Las Vegas Strip, including the MGM and MGM Grand. He also invested in and operated business in a number of industries, including airlines, automakers, Chrysler Corp., General Motors, online casinos and film studios. He purchased MGM Studios three times, bought United Artists and tried to acquire Columbia Pictures.
