Services were pending for comedian Anne Meara, who has died at age 85, family members said Sunday.
Meara died Saturday, her family announced today.
Meara and her husband of 61 years, comedian Jerry Stiller, were members of the improvisational company The Compass Players, then started an act which led to 36 appearances on “The Ed Sullivan Show,” and many nightclub and theater appearances.
The couples’ TV careers continued into their 80s.
Both had Emmy nominations — Meara four, including one for outstanding lead actress for a drama for her title role in the short-lived 1975 CBS legal drama “Kate McShane” and Stiller one for his role in the former TV comedy hit, “Seinfeld.”
The Stiller and Meara comedy team’s star was installed Feb. 9, 2007, directly in front of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s office on Hollywood Blvd.
They are parents of comic actor Ben Stiller.
