An 18-year-old man suspected of assaulting a woman with a skateboard in Venice was released on bail, authorities said Monday.
Charles Rayner was arrested in the Venice Beach area around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Sara Faden said.
Bail was set at $30,000 and Rayner was freed from custody Sunday afternoon, Faden said.
The assault, which was recorded by a bystander, occurred in Venice Wednesday night, police said.
The victim, in her late teens or early 20s, underwent surgery to repair a broken jaw and a cracked skull, according to broadcast reports.
Rayner is scheduled to be arraigned in Los Angeles Superior Court on April 23, according to county inmate records.
