Tell me a little about what you do in Century City?
I am a corporate and securities partner at TroyGould PC, a full-service, mid-sized business law firm. My practice focuses on advising private and public companies, including, but not limited to, technology, biopharmaceutical, restaurant, real estate, apparel, medical device and internet-based companies. I represent clients in all stages of development, including their formation, public and private equity financings, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions. I also represent real estate owners, developers and borrowers.
What motivated you to get into the role?
I take great satisfaction in being in the position to help companies and individuals reach their business goals and provide them with strategic advice during the process.
Where did it all begin for you career-wise?
I first became interested in becoming a lawyer after taking a Business Law course as an undergraduate at UCLA. I had an amazing professor whose enthusiasm for the material brought it to life. Thereafter, I attended Vanderbilt Law School in Nashville, Tennessee, where I received a Business Law certificate based on my course work. I am also fortunate to have had some really great mentors, which helped foster my interest in the law.
What do you love about Century City? Where is your favorite place to eat/exercise/take a break from the office in the area?
I love the tight-knit, business community here in Century City. My favorite restaurant is BierBeisl, which was located in Beverly Hills – it is transitioning to a larger location in the area. I often stroll through the Westfield mall here in Century City, and enjoy the Farmer’s Market and Gulfstream.
If you could add one thing to the area what would it be and why?
I would love another great sushi restaurant in Century City and perhaps a nice, public basketball court with outdoor lighting to play on in the evenings with others in the area.
What do you do in you spare time?
My wife, Nicole, and I try to get up to Lake Arrowhead as often as we can. We especially love going up in the summer to go boating, wakeboarding and swimming in the beautiful lake. I also play basketball with my brother and close friends. We have a weekly game on Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons. My father, brother, and I are also season ticket holders for the Clippers; we love going to the games.
What is one cool thing that you want to do this coming year?
I want to go to the NBA All-Star game in NYC. My brother lives in Manhattan, so it would be an added bonus to go with him and visit my eight-month old niece, Emilia.
Where was your last vacation?
My wife and I went to visit Amsterdam before attending business meetings in Rotterdam. Amsterdam is a beautiful and historic city. We loved strolling along the canals and enjoying the stunning architecture.
Where do you wish your last vacation was?
Australia and New Zealand. I would love to spend time at the Great Barrier Reef and take in what I understand is awe-inspiring scenery.
