FBI agents and police responded to robberies yesterday in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, FBI officials said.
The first robbery took place between 10 and 11 am at a Citibank in the 8400 block of Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills, FBI spokeswoman Laura
Eimiller said.
The male suspect in the robbery passed a note to a teller demanding cash and threatened to detonate an explosive device, Eimiller said.
The suspect was described as white, in his 50s, about 230 pounds, Eimiller said. Witnesses also told law enforcement the man was wearing a New England Patriots cap, a surgical mask on his face and had a bandage on his arm.
The second robbery took place between 1 and 2 pm at a One West Bank at 12401 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles, Eimiller said.
The suspect in this case pointed a handgun at several victims in the bank during the robbery, according to Eimiller.
The male suspect was described as white, about 45 years old, 6 feet tall, 180 to 190 pounds, with pock-marked cheeks.
There’s no word yet on how much cash each suspect took in the robberies.
