Los Angeles police will flood Koreatown and surrounding neighborhoods Thursday with officers looking for intoxicated drivers and those without valid licenses.
The eight-hour “saturation patrol” will be in the police department’s Olympic patrol area, which is roughly bounded by Melrose Avenue on the north, Hoover Street on east, the Santa Monica (10) Freeway on the south and Gower Street on the west.
On Friday at 7 p.m., two five-hour “sobriety and driver’s license” checkpoints will begin, one of them at Florence Avenue and Hoover Street and the other at Manchester and Denver avenues, police said.
On Saturday at 8 p.m., two five-hour sobriety and driver’s license checkpoints will start, one at Vermont Avenue and Beverly Boulevard and the other at Van Nuys and Roscoe boulevards.
The work is being paid for with federal funds administered by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
