“I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts/there they are standing in a row…†is the chorus of an old song written in the days when coconuts were used for tropical drinks and other sweet treats. Times have changed coconuts are everywhere nowadays – coconut water, coconut flooring (on top of which I am sitting as I type) and now coconut mattresses. Palmpring USA’s Puri organic coconut and natural latex mattress will be on display at Met Lofts in downtown Los Angeles in four units designed by ASID interior designer Rachel Winokur.
The mattresses are manufactured in Los Angeles using certified 100% organic materials in its sustainably-produced, hypoallergenic and chemical-free bedding, and replaces the needs for metal springs with rubberized coconut fibers which provide spring-like resilience and bounce. Also, coconut fiber and na
tural latex do not retain heat or water, inhibiting the growth of mold, bacteria, fungi, and these materials do not have to be sprayed for dust mites and bed bugs.
