Radical Women’s 2013 International Women’s Day commemoration on Friday, March 8, 2013, will feature a speak out in defense of Marissa Alexander, an African American mother from Jacksonville, Florida in jail for firing a warning shot to stop an attack by her estranged husband.
Though no one was hurt, Alexander was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and faces a 20-year prison sentence.
Proceeds from the Friday, March 8th event at Solidarity Hall, 2122 W. Jefferson Blvd. in Los Angeles which starts at 7:00pm with an international buffet served at 6:30pm for a $10.00 donation, will benefit Marissa Alexander Legal Defense and Radical Women.
