By popular demand, actress, stand-up comic and certified laughter leader Katy Franco has added an additional performance of her one-woman show, “The Breast Years of My Life†: Monday, October 22, 8:00pm, at the Laugh Factory, 8001 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood.
“The Breast Years of My Life†is Franco’s comedy show about her offbeat experiences as a breast cancer patient in which she skillfully weaves stand-up comedy, laughter therapy, a narrated mime presentation of her book “Chemorella,†and her own true story into a powerful, hysterically funny show. It is a celebration of life – and the follies of love – told by a woman who kills with laughter.
Katy Franco is a Latina actress, celebrity, and screamingly funny stand-up comic who has performed throughout the US, Puerto Rico and South America. With her husband, dog bite law attorney Ken Phillips, she is author of “Chemorella†(subtitled “Quimiorela†), a bilingual, beautifully illustrated Cinderella story about beating cancer and seeing your dreams come true (www.chemorella.com). The authors are principals in Franco-Phillips Publishers, based in Beverly Hills.
Franco was awarded the 2012 Rire d’Or (Golden Laughter) award from France’s International School of Humor. Local appearances have included the Ice House, the Improv, and the Laugh Factory. “Katy Franco is the personification of the art-humor-healing intersection,†wrote Steve Wilson, founder of the World Laughter Tour.
Five dollars out of every ticket sold will go to Save the Tatas Foundation® (www.savethetatas.com) to fund breast cancer research.
“The Breast Years of My Life†is based on “Sacando Pecho,†Franco’s Spanish show which she has been doing in Puerto Rico for the past 5 years. “The Breast Years of My Life†is in English and will be performed one night only, Monday, October 22, at 8:00pm at the Laugh Factory, in Hollywood.
