On Thursday November 1, 2012, 8:30 am-3:30 pm, Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services will host the 4th Annual Autism Conference entitled, †Re-Thinking Autism: Neurobiology, Technology, Policy, Community†.
This conference is for the community of families living with autism and the specialists serving them, and will shine the light on state of the art innovations, research, local programs and resources developed to address relevant challenges and to enhance the quality of life for those with special needs.
Highlights of this newsworthy conference include presentation of two distinguished awards for outstanding service on behalf of the Los Angeles Autism community: The Vista Del Mar Guardian Award to Los Angeles Police Chief, Charlie Beck and the Baron Inspiration Award to be accorded to prolific author, Chantal Sicile-Kira.

Viewing Autism Though a Neurobiological Lens. Presented by Pat Levitt, PH.D: Provost Professor of Neuroscience, Pediatrics, Psychology, Psychiatry, Pharmacy, Director of USC Neuroscience Graduate Program, and serving as Scientific Director of the National Scientific Council on the Developing Child.
Advocating for Autism: How to make a Difference with Lawmakers. Presented by Peter Bell: Executive VP Programs and Services for Autism Speaks, recently appointed to the US President’s Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities as a Citizen Member.
Changing the Status Quo by Harnessing Technology for Those Living with Autism. Presented by
Diana O’Brien: Founder of IMPACT AUTISM, committed to transforming the state of care via fresh, bold, technology driven solutions.
Based on the extraordinary response to past years evocative “Kids Panel†, event attendees will once again have the rich and unique opportunity to ask tweens and teens with autism about their life experiences, challenges and joys.
The November 1st conference will be held on the Vista Del Mar campus in the Myer Gensberg Recreation Center located at 3200 Motor Avenue in Los Angeles. Attendees will be provided complimentary breakfast and lunch.
This conference is vendored through West Side Regional Center (Vendor # PW5788). Please inquire about CEU’s. Vista Del Mar must receive the Regional Center approval authorization no later than October 12, 2012.
