LDG earned Grand Awards for the Best On the Boards Custom Home and for Bath Design and Merit Awards in the categories of Custom Home 5,000-10,000 sq. ft., Custom Home over 10,000 sq. ft., and International On the Boards Project bringing the group’s total to 51 Gold Nuggets.
Winner of the Grand Award for Best On the Boards Custom Home, the Franklin Residence is a 7,500-sq.-ft residence nestled between Hollywood and Beverly Hills. A steep driveway and subterranean parking for five cars are carved into the hillside, allowing the house to be sited forward on the lot and preserving a generous pad area for the lawn, a circular swimming pool and spa, and garden terrace with a fire pit, all overlooking the Los Angeles basin. The façade is an elegant composition of modern forms and materials. A two-story glass and steel stair tower, rising from a serene reflecting pool, is engaged by gently curving walls clad with Italian limestone, cut in a bamboo-inspired pattern.
