In honor of National Women’s Health Week, Saint John’s Health Center will present “A Woman’s Health—Revitalize, Rejuvenate, Reclaim†on Monday, May 14, 2012 2:00pm-4:00pm and repeated on Wednesday, May 16 from 6:30pm-8:30pm at the Santa Monica Public Library Auditorium.
This free community education forum with question and answer session will feature lectures on vitality, wellness, skin health and skin cancer, including melanoma.
Attendees will discover ways to increase energy, enhance vitality and boost brain power from guest lecturer, Mao Shing Ni, PhD, DOM LAc, Dipl. ABAAHP, the Director and Co-founder of Tao of Wellness in Santa Monica and Newport Beach and Chancellor and Co-founder of Yo San University, Los Angeles.

Dr. Mao is a Doctor of Chinese Medicine, an authority on Taoist anti-aging medicine and author of the best selling book, Secrets of Longevity, as well as, Second Spring: Hundreds of Natural Secrets for Women to Revitalize and Regenerate at Any Age, Secrets of Healing, and recently, Secrets of Longevity 8-Week Program: Simple Steps that Add Years to Your Life. Dr. Mao lectures internationally and has been featured regularly on The Dr. Oz Show, The Doctors as well as in The New York Times and Los Angeles Times.
Since May is melanoma/skin cancer detection and prevention month, skin health and cancer will be addressed by renowned physicians from the John Wayne Cancer Institute (JWCI) at Saint John’s.
Delphine Lee, MD, PhD, FAAD, dermatologist and immunologist, is the Director of Translational Immunology at the Dirks/Dougherty Laboratory for Cancer Research at JWCI. At the women’s health week program, Dr. Lee will share knowledge about maintaining healthy skin, preventing skin photoaging, SPF and other factors that may prevent skin cancer including melanoma.
Dr. Lee is currently a reviewer for the International Journal of Dermatology and recipient of numerous awards and accolades, including a prestigious NIH Research Award. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Rounding out the expert panel is Mark Faries, MD, FACS, surgeon and one of the nation’s leading melanoma researchers. Dr. Faries is the Director of the Melanoma Research Program and Co-Director, Fellowship Program at JWCI. At the women’s health week program, he will discuss the latest information about therapies and research for melanoma and share important perspectives on this life-threatening skin cancer.
Dr. Faries is currently a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, American Association for Cancer Research and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
